  • Greetings

In general, friends and relatives greet each other in Spain with a kiss or a hug. You have to make sure to greet the eldest person first. When a male greets a female or when a female greets a female, they will gently touch both arms and move together until they are about six inches apart and may kiss each other on the cheek. This entire ritual will only take one or maybe 2 seconds. While here in the UAE, males and females can't greet each other the same way, they greet each other without making any contact.

When a male greets another male, who is his relative or friend, it is customary for them just to approach each other and give each other a hug. You have to hake hands when leaving with everyone present including children. But here in the UAE, most of the males greet each other by nose to nose greetings.
